Taiwan Central Weather Bureau is Active

Here is another chance to track a typhoon. Matmo is about to impact Taiwan, home to over 22 million people living in an area the size of Maryland and Delaware. The Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan is an easily navigated page that will show you current weather images along with other storm impacts.

Equal to a Minimal Category 2 Hurricane

Looking at the images coming from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center along with the radar above clearly shows an organized storm that is moving NW toward Taiwan. The wind is over 95 mph sustained and the eye looks to pass directly over Central Taiwan.

Just One Week after Rammasun

Although Matmo is not expected to intensify rapidly like Rammasun does not make it any less dangerous. Rammasun killed more than 100 people in the Philippines and China and was the strongest storm to hit Southern China since 1973. Matmo will impact Taiwan early Wednesday local time and then move on to Eastern China.
